The incarceration of Raphael Nakacinda, the Patriotic Front (PF) secretary general, is a troubling case of selective justice and a clear case of political convictions against leaders of the opposition political parties, especially those from the ruling party, Harry Kalaba has said.

As Zambia looks to the 2026 elections, Makebi’s message has become a rallying call for citizens who believe that leadership anchored in faith and guided by godly principles is the only path to a just, peaceful, and prosperous nation.

There is nothing to celebrate when families cannot afford a decent meal, when our youths see no future in their own country, when freedom of expression is under threat, and when those in power choose arrogance over service.

Makebi blended legal understanding with spiritual conviction. His words were not those of a man seeking applause, but of one appealing to conscience. The comments section quickly filled with messages of support such as “MZ8 for President 2026,” “God bless Makebi,” and “You have my vote.”

It is the silence of those who should be speaking. Of the nine MPs whose seats Honourable Nakachinda defended, two eventually lost their positions under dubious circumstances.

Tribalism now stalks our politics like a shadow. Where once the cry was “One Zambia, One Nation,” today ethnic loyalty outweighs merit, fairness or justice.

Patriotic Front Member and Constitutional Lawyer Hon. Makebi Zulu has called for what he described as Zambia’s Second Independence, urging citizens to unite in reclaiming their freedoms and restoring constitutional order.
