Patriotic Front Secretary General Raphael Nakachinda has urged party members to remain united, disciplined, and focused in the face of what he described as continued political persecution and mismanagement by the ruling UPND government.
Speaking after appearing at the courts, where he was escorted by senior party officials, Nakachinda warned against internal divisions, stressing that this was not the time for individuals to put personal ambitions above the collective good. He cautioned members not to allow “destructive elements from outside” or self-seeking interests to weaken the organization.
“This is the time to put aside personal interests and income, and prioritize the demands of the Zambian people,” Nakachinda said. “We must do only that which strengthens the organization. This is not the time to undermine each other.”
He reiterated that the Patriotic Front remains a pro-poor, nationalist movement with a duty to provide an alternative to what he called the UPND regime’s record of “torture, torment, mismanagement, and misgovernance of national affairs.”
On matters relating to the late former President Edgar Chagwa Lungu’s burial, Nakachinda noted that representatives of the family were actively engaging the state, and he expressed confidence that the concerns of both the family and the PF would be addressed at the negotiating table.
At the same time, he condemned what he described as the “brutality” faced by PF members over the past three years, calling it unjust and unacceptable. He said the party would continue to push for justice, fairness, and the restoration of political freedoms in Zambia.
“There are reasonable demands and areas of negotiation,” Nakachinda said. “We believe light is at the end of the tunnel.”
He concluded by urging PF members to remain patriotic and consistent, reaffirming that the party’s mission is to fight for the people and return Zambia to a path of dignity and prosperity.
